I have been rotating student models 90 degrees around a longitudinal axis because the proportions of the rooms and buildings is instantly transformed into a more vertical proportion. Often it doesn’t require a complete remapping of program, although the circulation has to be re-thought. In this case, although the circulation is intended to be in the driver’s seat, and the roll maneuver could be interpreted as counter that agenda, I see it as a simple change in perspective that has the potential of making the entire composition more kinetic and dynamic, which is how skateboarding and physical activity should be represented.
